Bradley Beal disclosed that he was not vaccinated during his media session on Monday, telling FortyEightMinutes and other reporters that he made the decision with full understanding of what we know about the virus.
“I would like an explanation to people with vaccines – why are they still getting COVID if that’s something that we are supposed to highly be protected from?” Beal said. “It’s funny that it only reduces your chances of going to the hospital. It doesn’t eliminate anybody from getting COVID. Right?”
Beal missed the Tokyo Olympics and Team USA winning the gold medal after getting COVID this past summer. Beal said his previous encounter with the virus (and the antibodies associated with it) gives him some protection from getting it again. Although, he added that it wasn’t a main determinate in the decision to remain vaccinated.
