We’re months from NBA free agency but it’s never too early to look ahead (especially if your team disappointed at the 2024 trade deadline).
Below is the list of point guards who will become free agents this summer.
Top Point Guards Available
The restricted free agents at the point guard position include Tyrese Maxey (Sixers), Kira Lewis (Jazz), Malachi Flynn (Pistons), and Immanuel Quickley (Raptors).
We’ve carved out the restricted free agents, as they are more likely to stay with their incumbent team than unrestricted free agents are.
We’ve also kept the point guards with player options off the below list, including Lonzo Ball (Bulls), Jrue Holiday (Celtics), Reggie Jackson (Nuggets), D’Angelo Russell (Lakers), and Russell Westbrook (Clippers). All five can become free agents if they turn down their respective player options.
The list of unrestricted free agents below includes five players who switched teams at the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline either via trade or buyout. The list is led by James Harden, who was traded to the Clippers earlier this season.
You might see Harden listed as a shooting guard elsewhere and that’s alright, as he’s ping-ponged between the one and the two since morphing into a star during his Houston days. Harden is seeing about 66% of his minutes at the point guard spot this season, according to Basketball Reference. No matter which guard position you slot him into, he should be the top player on the market.
While Mike Conley will be 37 to start next season, he’s still showcasing that he can lead a winning team. Minnesota traded for Monte Morris at the 2024 trade deadline and they have fellow free agent Jordan McLaughlin in-house. If Conley slips out of Minnesota this summer, he should be able to make an immediate impact somewhere.
