Giannis Antetokounmpo Traded to Miami Heat in Blockbuster Deal with Bucks

The Miami Heat have just pulled off one of the most significant acquisitions in franchise history. The Heat have now landed two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks in a massive trade that reshapes the NBA’s Eastern Conference landscape.

According to sources, the Bucks are sending Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to Miami in exchange for Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks (including the No. 13 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft), one pick swap, and one second-round pick.

The Heat will send unprotected first-rounders in 2031 and 2033, along with the No. 13 pick, a 2030 pick swap, and a 2033 second-rounder to Milwaukee. This deal is set to be executed on July 6, with the framework potentially open to expansion to include other teams. As of now, this is a 1-on-1 transaction between the Miami Heat and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Pat Riley has done it again. He has landed his “BIG WHALE,” a term for a big-name player that Riley goes out to acquire. The Heat president adds another superstar to a list of legendary acquisitions that includes LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Bosh, Alonzo Mourning, and Jimmy Butler. Pairing Giannis Antetokounmpo with Bam Adebayo creates one of the most physically dominant front courts in the league and immediately positions Miami as a top contender in the Eastern Conference.

Trade Details & What Each Side Gets

For the Miami Heat:

Giannis Antetokounmpo – A 10-time All-Star, two-time MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and 2021 Finals MVP who led the Bucks to their first championship in 50 years. He brings elite scoring, rebounding, playmaking, and defense. Giannis will be coming into this season with something to prove on a new franchise with a fresh start. He has been doubted the past few years because he has come up short of the pinnacle he reached in 2021. A new beginning should serve as a refresher for Giannis. The rest of the NBA better look out. Giannis is coming!

Bobby Portis – A veteran forward who adds toughness, spacing, and playoff experience alongside Giannis. Giannis plays great with shooters around him and Portis has been one of those and then some for Giannis for years now. Look for Portis to continue right where he left off in Milwaukee.

For the Bucks:

They receive a young core and significant draft capital. Tyler Herro (All-Star in 2025, 19.5 PPG career average) grew up near Milwaukee and should come in with something to prove now playing for his hometown team. Jaime Jaquez Jr. (25) was a strong Sixth Man candidate last season. Kel’el Ware (22) and Kasparas Jakucionis (20, last year’s No. 20 pick) provide youth and significant upside. The draft assets give Milwaukee flexibility to rebuild around a new vision under coach Taylor Jenkins.

For Miami, the focus shifts to integrating Giannis with Bam, the returning roster, and whatever else Riley cooks up before the season. This is a clear win-now move. The Miami Heat have finally got their GUY.
