There is reason to believe Hield’s Atlanta future is uncertain. Hield’s contract had a guarantee date of Thursday, but Atlanta pushed it back to give the two sides more time, Chris Haynes reports. The adjustment buys both the player and the franchise additional runway to sort out his status before any money locks in.
For Miami, the fit is logical. After acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo in a blockbuster trade, as we covered, the Heat have prioritized finding shooting to space the floor around their new frontcourt of Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo. Hield, who ranks among the top 20 players in NBA history in career three-pointers made and is a career 39 percent shooter from deep, would slot neatly into that role.
The Heat have also been linked to moving pieces like Nikola Jović in the pursuit of additional shooting, signaling that perimeter scoring is the front office’s clear offseason priority. Should Hield reach the open market, Miami would have both the motivation and the need to pursue him.
